Mister

I just fall on our comment about our wine "Obecanje" gamay. It is the first time i heard our wines are "unnecessarily harsh". Please before to give a note to a wine, try to tast more than only one bottle.
We are sending our wines in the best wine bars in Paris and maybe you fall on a bad bottle. Maybe let it time to open itself before to drink.
And also, we are not in biodynamic but in organic.
Regards. Cyrille bongiraud

As a member of the WLO team, I found this comment from "Bill" to be both offensive and mildly amusing:

"Before you shoot your mouth off and come off as so called “expert”, pick up a fucking map. I hate it when arrogant pricks think they know everything there is about wine. Everybody is an expert."

Offensive for the obvious reason — some rather "colorful" language used in name-calling.

Amusing in that, like so many people online, he is quick to criticize, but apparently reluctant to identify himself.

I'd have a lot more respect for his opinion were it offered without the safe cloak of anonymity. So how about it, "Bill"?

Bill -

Our apologies -- as an out-of-stater, I guess when I wrote "Upper Peninsula" I had intended that it was on the upper half of the Lower Peninsula. It wasn't arrogance or me trying to flaunt knowledge so much as just a simple mistake. I've corrected this glaring error in the article, and again, my apologies on such a geographic misnomer.

For what it's worth, I never claimed here to be an expert on Michigan wine. Nobody knows everything about wine -- that's one reason we visit new places, to gain that exposure. I visited more than two wineries and sampled a half dozen more wines from across the state during my stay. It was a new experience. Just because it's new, though, can I not write about it? The article, if anything, makes a strong case for a particular wine from Brys Estate. Their Pinot Noir is quite good.

Quite honestly, the other wines I sampled were not nearly of such quality and so I will not present them as such. Michigan has potential, surely. But it is not California or Oregon, nor is it Loire or Burgundy.

Cheers,
Tom

What an idiot. You visit two Michigan wineries (out of nearly 100) and suddenly you are an expert on Michigan wine. Were you in the Upper Peninsula or in the Traverse City area? You say: "Their signature varieties are mostly German — Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Ice Wine. The colder climate of the Upper Peninsula is better suited to these grapes than the grape varieties many American consumers want to see".. Once again you refer to the Upper Peninsula. There are very few vineyards in the Upper Peninsula and those that are up there grow mostly hybrids and cold climate varieties. Before you shoot your mouth off and come off as so called "expert", pick up a fucking map. I hate it when arrogant pricks think they know everything there is about wine. As a wine review site, we don't offer wine for distribution. But I'd recommend touching base with Denavolo's importer, Savio Saoares, to see where you might be able to order a few bottles.

Cheers,
