In the glass, it’s a nearly opaque, reddish-purple hue. Rising from the glass are warm scents of ripe blackberry, cassis, and black cherry fruit, followed by black licorice and, finally, a light dusting of vanilla and oak spice. It has a sweet fruit palate impression, showing a youthful tannic chewiness. Enjoy this wine now for its forward fruit, or cellar another seven years to enjoy a mellower red with secondary aromatics. It should go without saying that this wine will pair nicely with your favorite cut of beef, charred to medium-rare perfection.
