2010 Buty ‘Columbia Rediviva,’ Phinny Hill Vineyard, Horse Heaven Hills, Washington

Glass-staining deep purple in hue, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (85%) and Syrah (15%) is nicely knit — balanced and well structured. It has a very pretty nose of polished French oak that leads to impressions of extracted black cherry liqueur, berry fruits and violets. There’s a hint of high-toned tobacco in the mouth, where medium-grained tannins at mid-palate suggest this is a vintage that should be cellared for a few years. Definitely a wine worth waiting for.
