Concannon has been at the forefront of promoting the worthiness of Petite Sirah as a varietal bottling – they were the first to do so in the 1961 vintage. So it comes as no surprise that their marketplace bottling would deliver solid drinking pleasure at a reasonable price. Opaque purple/plum color with violet streaks at the rim. Exuberant fresh berries in the nose are followed in the mouth by a silky presence showing darker, fleshier fruit as well as notes of mocha and woodspice. The tannins are restrained and rounded. This is a pleasant red to enjoy over the next few years.
