Hot and funky upon opening. Fifteeen minutes later, however, aromas of irony game meat have been replaced by sautéed mushrooms, curry powder, forest floor, and dried leaves. Not for the faint of heart or some New World palates, this rustic wine emerges as an enjoyable, fairly acidic Anjou red that would readily complement roasted lamb dishes or even spice-inflected Moroccan cuisine.
