2010 J. Lohr Fog’s Reach Pinot Noir, Arroyo Seco

Opaque purple-plum color. Despite the dark color, the aroma and flavor profile swings more to the red fruit spectrum — jammy strawberry, raspberry and cherry. Add in some aromatic sage spices, plus notes of black tea, fine ash, clove and cedar, and you have a complex, compelling red that tingles all of the right taste buds. Rich yet supple in the mouth, this wine can be enjoyed now for its youthful exuberance, or cellared for a few years as she develops additional elegance.
MSRP: $35 (May 2012)
