Needs a bit of time to open, especially if well chilled, but this emerges as a superbly aged example of the Savennieres terroir, with a great deal of minerality and an almost meaty finish that complements robust dishes. Yes, you read that right – a white wine that could wolf a steak. There’s a whiff of caramel corn, overripe banana, white blossoms and crisp Anjou pear, with extremely mild oxidation. This is a striking wine, and not just for its brilliant yellow-gold color.
