2010 Salt of the Earth Flore de Moscato, California

For more than three decades, winemaker Andrew Quady has been producing some of the best sweet Muscats and Port-style wines in the United States. This one (a blend of Orange Muscat and Muscat Canelli) demonstrates the aroma and flavor profile of the ancient Muscat varietals. Pungent aromas of sweet honeysuckle, orange blossom, ripe pear, and geranium waft from the glass. At only 7.5% alcohol, you might guess that the taste will be sweet, and you won’t be disappointed. The high sweetness level and resultant syrupy viscosity is nicely broken up by a spritziness and solid acidity. For those tipplers with a sweet tooth, this is a wine to seek out.
