Cabernet Sauvignon is grown in many parts of Sonoma County, and Kenwood sources grapes from Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley and Sonoma Valley for its “Sonoma County” bottling. The 2009 vintage exudes sweeter flavors than you’d expect from Cabernet (think: sweet currant and berry, joined by a suggestion of licorice root), which would make it a superb “by-the-glass” choice on a restaurant wine list. Finishing with a hint of mocha, the wine is soft, food-friendly and ready to drink.
