2009 Patz & Hall Pinot Noir, Pisoni Vineyard, Santa Lucia Highlands

Cranberry is front and center on first sniff, giving way to impressions of dark flowers, black licorice, and baking spices. In the mouth, a black cherry flavor emerges, joined by a cola note. With its upfront fleshy fruit, this would be an outstanding foil for fowl (especially duck) or salmon Wellington.
