2009 Concannon ‘Crimson & Clover,’ Livermore Valley

The Concannon name is synonymous with Petite Sirah, and that variety comprises half of this blend, which also includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Zinfandel. There’s a hint of butterscotch in the nose, leading to intense flavors of blackberry and black cherry, with a hint of white pepper in the finish. The tannins are bracing at this point, so lay it down for a few years, or uncork it now and serve alongside barbecued meats.
